This AC unit from Advent Air is designed to replace the old or broken Carrier air conditioner on your RV or camper. The included adapter wiring kit ensures that the AC works seamlessly with your existing, in-good-working-order Carrier air distribution box and thermostat. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace your AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.

Start Capacitor

Advent Air Start Capacitor

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

Advent Air AC Installation 15,000 BTU

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.

To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year limited warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), youll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

Great! Plug and play set up- took an hour at most- 91 degrees out and cooled down inside with in 30 minutes
One down one to go! Hardest part, getting AC on top but, managed no problem. E Trailer did good.

by:

Great unit. Great instructions with photos. Installation was a breeze, once the unit was on the roof (took two people to slide up a long ladder. But was also used to return removed unit to the ground). Connections with the Carrier remote interface were simple plug-&-play. Everything worked on initial start up, and continues to do so. I recommend it, & Etrailer.

Summer this year was a hot one. Our travels from Southern California included East Texas and the Pacific Northwest. The Advent AC unit has worked flawlessly.

by:

Installation was a breeze, the unit plugged right into my old wiring and worked perfect on the first try. Thank you so much for making a system capatable with my outdated system.

by:

Perfect fit and came ready to “plug and play”. Removed old unit and replaced with this one in under an hour.

by:

I just got the thing yesterday, so I haven't even had a chance to schedule the install with the customer yet. I mean, the thing looks okay. I'm sure it will work fine. Things don't always arrive when the tracking says it will, so I don't schedule same day installs.

by:

Very easy to install. Works way better than the original A/C. I would definitely recommend this product. It replaced the original from a 2005 camper.

by:

Unit really was a direct replacement for the previous Carrier. Installing the starting capacitor I noticed the air ducting material is ABS plastic; which is both lighter, stronger, and weather resistance that the ducting of older AC units. The electrical adapter connections did take a few minutes to figure out. Overall the connectors are unique so its difficult to make a mistake. The unit is approximately six inches taller than the Carrier. In some applications you may find the trailer height may be an issue.

by:

Installing was quick and efficient. At first when I hookup up unit on the inside, it was blowing hot air. After purchasing the advent air distribution unit without thermostat, everything runs smoothly. I love my unit. This my first time installing everything. I would buy again, if my second unit goes out. Great replacement for carrier unit.

by:

cools but is very loud

by:

Ordered 2 of the units to replace carrier units. One unit has been flawless. The other unit had shipping damage and has had a vibration from day one. If not for the shipping damage I could not be happier with them. I chose to go ahead and install the damaged unit because it is hot in south texas. ASA did send me a replacement squirrel cage fan at no charge when I contacted them about the vibration thinking that would fix it but it did not. I have since found a broken motor mount and I am attempting to fix it. Would 100% buy again but if it has shipping damage send it back.

by:

It was sold to me as a plug and play AC for my unit. Turns out that it is far from that and had to have an AC repairman get it hooked up. Fan speed still does not work but the only help I was offered from etrailer was to send it back. I kept it and am using it as best as it will run. I boght a portable AC also to help it. Very unhandy.

by:

Kimberly, our salesperson was awesome. Very knowledgeable and took good care of us. She helped us order the correct AC replacement unit for a 2005 Keystone Outback. Will definitely order from etrailer again. Our order came quicker than expected.

by:

Got new Advent 15000 AC in only 2days shipping time. No issues with shipping or the installation. Everything was plug and play (with the new adapter included). Very pleased all around.

by:

Haven't had a chance to install it, but it did come in a nice box.
Looking forward to installing it next year (2024)

by:

Ac works great fixed my issue thx 4 being their!

by:

Just installed today, really straight forward. Pretty easy and excellent instructions. A++++

AIR CONDITIONER ARRIVED IN 3-4 DAYS AS EXPECTED. PACKAGE LOOKED TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE. UPS DIDN'T COPY MY NAME OVER TO THE SHIPPING ADDRESS, ONLY THE LOT #. HAD A RV REPAIR PERSON THAT DOES WORK IN THE CAMPGROUND INSTALL IT FOR ME. WE USED A LADDER AND ROPE TO SLIDE IT UP TO THE ROOF OF OUR 2003 CARRIAGE CAMEO 5TH WHEEL. ONE PERSON PUSHING IT UP AND ONE PULLING. IT WORKED VERY WELL. THE NEW ONE BOLTED DOWN AND HOOKED UP JUST LIKE IT SAID IN THE DIRECTIONS. TOOK A LITTLE BIT TO HOOK UP THE ADAPTER CABLES AND INSTALL THE EXTRA CAPCITOR FOR WE WERE REPLACING A CARRIER AIR V MODEL, BUT NO SERIOUS PROBLEMS. TOOK A TOTAL OF ABOUT TWO HOURS FOR TOTAL PROJECT. COULD HAVE DONE IT MYSELF IF I WASN'T HAVING A BACK PROBLEM. SEEMS TO RUN FINE EXCEPT FOR I WISH THE BLOWER WOULDN'T RUN ALL THE TIME, EVEN WHEN THE COMPRESSOR ISN'T RUNNING. MY OLD CARRIER DID THE SAME THING. I DON'T KNOW WHETHER THERE IS A WAY TO CHANGE THAT OR NOT. I DIDN'T TAKE ANY PICTURES WHILE INSTALLING IT BUT WILL TRY AND TAKE A PICTURE OF THE NEW ONE INSTALLED.

Seems to be good! i dont use it much in the summer but use it a lot in the winter down south. still would like it to shut off when the compressor isnt running.

by:

Installation went well and unit works okay. BUT, on a hot day in Texas, the compressor would no start. That is when I learned the unit does not have a capacitor to boost start the compressor. Low power in RV Parks is not uncommon. The Advent unit should come with a capacitor installed.

by:

I can only speak to the install itself, as this showed up too late last season to get it installed and in use last year. The install was very easy, using the conversion kit that allowed me to keep the Carrier interior components. The only possible concern is the roof seal, which I replaced with a one piece aftermarket. The roof seal installed was a 4 piece and was gapped at the corner coming out of the box and would have leaked. Either swap to a one piece or ensure it's glued up well on the ends that butt and maybe add some silicone to the corners outside to ensure its tight.

by:

We bought Mar 2022 and it stopped working today after only our 6th time using the AC this summer. We made it 1 year, 3 months. Disappointed.

by:

Took 3 months to receive the ac unit when it finally arrived it did not have the mounting screws, carrier wire harness adapter or the start capacitor with it.. had to deal with constant emailing to get the unit shipped to me ordered on 4/29/22 didn't receive until 7/28/22 and as of today 8/02/22 I still have not received all the missing parts..oh and the box it arrived in was beat to [crap] I recommend going with another company other than etrailer

by:

Delivered as said

by:

The package did not work as a direct replacement for my carrier unit as it was advertised. My old unit had two thermistors, one outside and one inside and the Advent only had a inside thermistor. It would run for 20 minutes then kick off and throw a code that the outside thermistor had a fault. I had to buy the inside unit and wall thermostat to get the unit to work. If I had known this at the time of purchase I would have purchased a different unit that had a heat pump like my old Carrier’s. The Advent unit is only cooling to a 15 degree difference from the outside temp which is also disappointing.

by:

Easy installation of replacement of Carrier rooftop unit . Carrier controls were plug and play . Unit not quite as quiet but cooled 31 ft Domani TT to 72 degrees in 105 degree Texas weather.

by:

I would like to thank George for his help when I needed it. In the year using my Advent air conditioner, it has done very well. For a DIY it was a straightforward install, and I only needed someone to help me get it on top of the RV, (in the box as someone suggested). I hope to get many years of service from my Advent air conditioner
